Discussion Summary

Hi everyone,

For organisational reasons, the Friday morning call will need to be discontinued and a new slot found. Stay tuned for updates on this – Friday calls will hence not be occurring moving forward.

Note that the Friday call on Friday Feb 20th, where we invited https://www.cyberdesk.app/ as a guest will also not be occurring.

Great news – a colleague created a dashboard that summarizes the vulnerabilities exposed to CSIRT, CISA, and ENISA. See https://servizi.toscana.it/RT/CybersecurityUnifiedDashboard. The dashboard relies on Python crawlers that parse the HTML/DOM structure of the ACN, CISA and ENISA websites. This means that: If any of these sources change their layout, selectors or page structure, the crawlers will stop working and will require manual updates. Since we may not always be able to maintain the scripts in the future, it’s important that anyone using the dashboard is aware of this limitation. The solution consists of three dedicated Python crawlers for ACN, CISA and ENISA; for ACN and ENISA, and partially for CISA, Playwright was used to fully render the pages, since many sections are dynamically generated via JavaScript; the crawlers extract and normalize all relevant fields (titles, dates, impact levels, CVE references, advisories, patch information, etc.); a scheduled cron job runs every hour to refresh the reports; an HTML generator aggregates the data and produces the public dashboard. As with any scraping-based system, if ACN, CISA or ENISA change their page structure, the scripts will need to be updated accordingly to keep everything working.

Cheers

Oliver
