2023/33 Weekly Update from the “City ISAC I4C+” Highlights: Coffee Shop closed Next Week / Digital Identities are not Inclusive / Did Covid Jabs contain Microsoft Transponders? / Our Website is now under Development

[TLP:WHITE]

Dear all, Hi everyone and hope you are well – three cities stopped by, and we were also visited by a journalist planning to support our journey moving forward. Always amazing who you run across in the Friday morning coffee shop.

** Note that next week Friday 18 August the coffee shop will be closed **

We started off sharing notes on the major hack of the UK electoral system recently revealed (see updates for more details – 47 million citizen records!) and how we can all expect these sorts of breaches to grow, especially as we move towards the EU elections next year. Digital identities, (non-) inclusion of the digitally / socially challenged in e-government efforts. This is not only a challenge for citizens, but also for legal entities – figuring out how to create / manage their digital identities is a major challenge.

Digital identity then moved to how we can travel across some countries by car and use common payment systems (i.e., Telepass system across Italy and Croatia). Yes, vehicles also have digital identities (often transponder based). We did reflect whether we might also have transponders implanted via the Covid jabs? The conspiracy theory is that Bill Gates was doing this, but I don’t think so – there would have been an update since then and we know what happens when Microsoft updates its products – we would all have stopped functioning 😊

Final theme was walking through the draft of a website for our ISAC – looking good and will help improve the legitimacy of our presence, especially as we continue develop our campaign to win 1000 new members in 9 months. Enjoy the August / summer break – we´ll be getting busy starting in September.

UPDATES

In the News: The hack of the UK electoral system is all across the news this week – see https://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/privacy-policy/public-notification-cyber-attack-electoral-commission-systems. Had this happened in the EU it would have been a major GDPR breach, although I wonder whether a country would end up fining itself? In any case, a major blow for citizen trust in our democratic contexts, but enough to increase funding to secure these systems? EU elections next year will be fun…

City ISAC Services (Member Funded): We have a first pilot commercial engagement developing with one member working to contract dark web monitoring services from our NIS Group partner. Please – don´t “dark web” yourself – an experienced tour operator will keep you safe…

Project “DAVID” (Member Funded): Draft website created and circulated for commentary.

Project “MEET” (EU Funded / Beneficiary): No updates.

Project “CS-AWARE NEXT” (EU Funded / Associate Partner): No updates.

Project “VAUBAN”: No updates.

Many of us now continue in our well-deserved summer breaks so ENJOY! Joining Friday mornings for an informal conversation can also be a nice part of a vacation by the way!
